A friend of mine named Andy works for a very small florist company that does a lot of special events, and he emailed me the monthly newsletter he’s doing on the side (for brownie points only, I understand) … so I opened it right away, being that I work mostly through email these days … and seconds later my cellphone rings and it’s Andy.

“I was watching to see who opened it first, and your name came up,” he says. “I was like, wow, Chris Felker, So I decided to call you. Would you look it over for me?”

“Sure thing,” I tell him, and then it occurs to me maybe this could be a thing that could maybe get me a paid hour every month, so I ask and that’s when he tells me he does it because no one else on staff at their small company has the time. But he’s doing a heck of a job, I find … so I edited the whole thing for him gratis and included that compliment, too … he’s putting forth an exemplary effort for someone not being paid to do this.
